#18

MITTELHOLZER, (Walter)
Repülögépen az Északi Sark felé

(With Aeroplane towards the North Pole)

First Edition 1926

The account of a Junkers financed aeroplane expedition to the Spitzbergen and beyond by the famed Swiss aviator, translated by Prochaska Ferenc dr. With both titles appearing in 1926 in the same editorial style (with illustrations dispersed among text, printed on thin coated paper), it is not possible to ascertain the exact publication sequence of this title and #17. It appears that just like #17, this title was published simultaneously in all three cover variants, Classic I, Classic II and Oval logo. At present no Second Edition is known (expected to be published on coarse paper with separate illustration plates, like all other titles of the mid-twenties). The earliest dust jacket is known from this title. While all other known dust jackets seem to date from the early thirties and later (associated with Classic III and perhaps also Oval logo covers), this one has the reverse listing aside #17 all the second or third editions of early titles that have been published in the early-mid twenties. Of note, none of the other listed titles have known dust jackets (the jacket of #17 is definitely associated with an early thirties third edition). The listing contains all titles that are known in the Classic I. (plain) cover variant, plus another four that lack this variant suggesting that at least these, but possibly all were also published in the Picture cover variant in the early-mid twenties. The rear of the dust-jacket also lists three of the early 'Modern Utazók és Felfedezök' (Modern Travelers and Explorers) series titles, even though those were published by Franklin, not Lampel.
