TAYLOR, Merlin Moore
A kannibálok földjén

(Where Cannibals Roam)

First Edition 1926
Second Edition 192?
Third Edition 193?

The account of a journey made to the interior of New Guinea, translated from the english original by Gyula Halász (of note, this is the first title where the name of a foreign author was not translated, and the original name order retained). The original 1926 first edition had 97 illustrations and one map on 216 pages, and aside the Classic I. cover, it also launched both the Classic II. and Oval logo bindings, apparently all having appeared near simultaneously. Interestingly, a second edition appeared in the Classic II. cover soon after, which retained the same 97 illustrations, but moved them to separate unnumbered plates between the numbered text pages. This second edition had 186 numbered pages plus the 97 illustrations and map, but due to the coarser paper used for the text pages, it is almost twice as thick as the first edition. It is also known in the Oval logo and Classic III. (both thoick and thin gilt decoration variants) bindings. Sometime in the early nineteen thirties a third edition was produced in the Classic III. cover, issued with a dust jacket. The list of other available titles on dust jacket suggests a late 1930 or early 1931 date for the third edition, one of the last to be published by Lampel. The third edition is common, however the first two are rather scarce. The text pages and pagination of the 2nd and 3rd Editions are identical, even the list of illustrations is the same (in error), however there is a slight difference in the photos, with one less in the third edition as stated on the title page.
