Anax parthenope

Observations:

  • Selima Sand Sheet (50 km NE of Eight Bells, Gilf Kebir), March 2004

While several dragonfly specimens were noted, mostly in the open desert between Dakhla oasis and the Gilf Kebir, most were not photographed and identified. Only a few specimens were photographed in identifiable detail, one of them early morning (chilled, unable to fly) at the western edge of the Selima Sand Sheet, among the easternmost foothills of the southern Gilf Kebir. (Species identified by Stefan Ober)
