The account of an 1933 expedition into Western Tibet led by the Italian orientalist Giuseppe Tucci, translated from the Italian original by József Révay. Like all other titles in the seven volume 1936 series, it appeared only Classic IV. full cloth binding. A very rare Classic IV. half cloth version is also known, however as not all 1936 titles have this binding version, it is assumed to date a couple of years later. It is not ascertained whether the half cloth version is a new edition, or a reprint with identical content to the full cloth version. A dust jacket must have existed, but is not known. A leaflet bound into a Classic IV. full cloth example promotes another two 1936 titles.
