Calligonum commosum
The species is the only vegetation in the northern part of the Great Sand Sea, in a zone commencing approximately 30 kilometres south of Siwa, until about 90 kms to the south, where no further vegetation can be found. The species exists entirely on morning dew, which may be sufficient to moisten sand up to a depth of 20-30 centimetres. In the centre of the zone, the species is prevalent, both on the dunes, and in the dune corridors.
