Gerbillus pyramidum
Fresh tracks of small rodents have been noted on several occasions near vegetation throughout the Libyan Desert, occasionally also in areas totally void of vegetation. However very few were actually observed and identified. One such occasion was at a campsite approximately 50 kilometres to the East of Wau Namus, on a totally barren flat serir. The gerbil approached the sleeping bags during the night, and was all about the camp in the morning, showing practically no fear of humans, whom it probably never encountered before.
