Cerastes cerastes
Despite the abundant Cerastes tracks in all sandy areas of the Libyan Desert, during all the expeditions only two individuals were seen, both amazingly on a single day, some ten kilometres apart. Both were found nearly completely submerged in sand. The first individual was nudged from it's position for photography, while the other was observed to attack and capture a bird and subsequently consume it.
