    The species is prevalent in all the massifs of the Libyan Desert, may be encountered in all rocky watercourses, even on the high plateaus. It usually grows to shrub height, but in a northern tributary of Karkur Talh there is an exceptionally large, tree sized individual. Frequently it is encountered in loctions where no other green vegetation may be found in the vicinity.
