While lizards are relatively abundant, in nearly two decades of visiting Jebel Uweinat only a single gecko species was spotted late afternoon in a crevasse in Karkur Talh (South branch). It was subsequently identified as Tarentola annularis, a species reported in past publications on the reptile fauna the central Libyan Desert.
